Meet the Chef: Natasha Gandhi-Rue

Chef Natasha Gandhi-Rue is the heart behind The Kitchen. A formally trained chef from the prestigious International Culinary Center (formerly the French Culinary Institute) in New York City, Natasha also holds a double major from Pennsylvania State University. Originally from New Jersey, she has proudly called Wichita, Kansas home for over 20 years — living, cooking, and teaching in the community she loves.

In 2016, Natasha and her husband, Scott, fulfilled their dream of opening The Kitchen inside Union Station in downtown Wichita. As Chef and Owner, Natasha pours her passion into creating exceptional menus, leading her team, and maintaining the high standards and culinary excellence The Kitchen is known for. She also shares her love for food through cooking classes, inspiring food lovers of all skill levels to feel confident and creative in their own kitchens.

Chef Natasha’s Career Highlights:

  • 15 years as International Culinary Chef Manager for Williams-Sonoma, overseeing global culinary programs
  • Winner, Guy’s Grocery Games – Clearance Wars (Season 23, Episode 11)
  • Featured Chef representing Kansas on NBC’s Today Show Thanksgiving Special (2019)
  • Champion, The Orpheum’s Celebrity & Chef Cook-Off (2019)

Natasha’s leadership, combined with Scott’s "adapt and overcome" mindset from his Marine Corps background, has helped shape The Kitchen into a beloved dining destination, celebrated for fresh food, warm service, and genuine community spirit.

Growing the Vision: Express Kitchen

Building on their success, Natasha and Scott have launched an exciting new venture: Express Kitchen — a fast-casual concept focused on global flavors, fresh ingredients, and customizable bowls, wraps, and salads. Express Kitchen reimagines the "build-your-own" experience by offering an ever-changing variety of global-inspired options. It’s a natural extension of The Kitchen’s commitment to fresh, creative food — now made faster and more accessible for the bustling downtown Wichita community. Express Kitchen brings a whole new way to enjoy clean, craveable meals that fit your lifestyle.
